Two Microsoft reps came on stage after Gnomdex conference organizer Chris Pirillo was wrapping up a session to deliver a copy of the cease and desist letter the company sent to Pirillo after he set up the vistatorrent.com website. The site was an effort to help Microsoft better deliver Beta 2 of Windows Vista. The site used bittorrenet which is a very efficient method for distributing large files on the Internet. But the site technically broke Vista’s user agreement and had to be shut down. A classy move by Microsoft, however, showing at least somebody there has a sense of humor.
